Malbec is without a doubt the grape variety that characterises Argentina in the world, and although it is of French origin, it found its best expression in this terroir.
Our winery is located in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, on the southern bank of the Mendoza River and is considered a specialist in the production of Malbecs from different micro-regions and in all price categories. The vineyards surrounding the winery, due to their location, have sandy and loamy soils and an arid climate that generates an ideal space for vine production. Some of these plants were planted in 1945 which adds diversity to the grapes available and gives a great balance associated with the age of the plants. We also make Malbecs from the most renowned geographical indications of the Uco Valley such as Paraje Altamira, Gualtallary through long term contracts with our associated producers.
In our Malbec portfolio we have Punto Final Malbec, a wine made with grapes from Uco Valley and Perdriel, an easy to drink, fresh, juicy and clean wine. In Robert Parker's publication "The Wine Advocate", the 2019 vintage was awarded 90 points and stood out for the great value for money it offers. Punto Final Malbec Rosé, with 100% grapes from our estate, fruity and fresh, is a rosé made organically and certified vegan.
In the Punto Final Reserva line, the Malbec has been the favourite so far in 2021, it was recommended by prestigious critics such as Tim Atkin with 93 points for the 2019 vintage and in competitions such as Vinómanos and International Wine Challenge for other vintages. Made with grapes from Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco, it is an elegant and concentrated wine.
Renacer Malbec, the one with the orange R on the label, as described by Luis Gutiérrez, who scored the 2017 vintage with 90 points, is a high-end Malbec with grapes from the Uco Valley such as Vista Flores and Gualtallary. It is a complex wine, due to its 24 months in French oak barrels of first use, and it is made every year since 2003.
To conclude, Fernando Sota, our Winemaking Manager, says "The variety that brings me more expectations is Malbec, I think that 2021 is a different year to understand other nuances of Malbec".
